Daniel Olson ’99: “I have built long lasting friendships with many alumni after graduating.”

Daniel Olson ’99.  “SigEp was known for big parties, Reggae and SigEpidemic when I was there,” Daniel said. “We built unbreakable bonds for life during out time there.”

He shared that there are many memories that we won’t rehash publicly, but when he was pledging they made a short movie. “It was called Menudo Flame and it was based on a James Bond villain where a brother from Germany played the villain,” he laughed. “We would get a huge laugh out of it today if we could dig it up.”

The friendships that have been built have been a pillar in Daniel’s life. “I have built long lasting friendships with many alumni after graduating,” he said. “But Jack Shores has been one of the more influential people in my life aside from my parents.”

He recalled the tradition of Brother interviews and hanging out at Cavs and Smokey Joe’s. “As far as the house, I loved having out in the third-floor alcove,” he said.

A favorite road trip was when they carpooled to McDan’s Vermont Ski Lodge in Okemo. “This trip is still one of my all-time favorite trips to date,” he said.

Daniel graduated from the Penn School of Engineering & Applied Sciences with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. After graduation, he married his college girlfriend, Heather who is an attorney for TLG in Philly and they have two children, Kyra (13) and Connor (10). He has held various product development leadership roles and currently works for the Federal Reserve System National IT as a Product Management Coach.
