Charles Crawford Jr. ’85 Named Among “Most Admired CEOs for 2020”

Congratulations to Brother Charles Crawford Jr. ’85, who leads Hyperion Bank and was recently named one of the Philadelphia Business Journal’s Most Admired CEOs for 2020. See the original article here.

Charlie Crawford joined Hyperion Bank in August 2017 and serves as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. A champion of community banking for more than 30 years, Mr. Crawford previously founded three thriving financial institutions in Atlanta, Georgia, each dedicated to superior personal service, strong client and community relationships, and commercial and residential lending, with a full spectrum of banking services. Hyperion Bank is built upon this same customer-first commitment, and Mr. Crawford believes this offers added value for business owners in the greater Philadelphia region.

As an undergraduate at The University of Pennsylvania and its Wharton School, Mr. Crawford earned a B.A. in Economics and a B.S. in Management in 1985 and later received an M.B.A. from Georgia State University’s J. Mack Robinson College of Business. He also graduated from the Louisiana State University (LSU) School of Banking. Prior to returning to Philadelphia to lead Hyperion Bank, Mr. Crawford organized a community bank in Atlanta in 2006. In 2016 this bank was included in the Inc. 5000 list of fastest-growing private companies, and in January 2017 he completed the successful merger of this institution, its holding company, and its mortgage division into a regional financial institution serving the southern U.S.

Mr. Crawford presently serves on the board of directors of the Pennsylvania Association of Community Bankers (PACB) and is a director of McKenney’s, one of the country’s largest mechanical contractors. He has been honored with awards for Entrepreneurship, and for his service on numerous nonprofit boards, including Georgia State University, the J. Mack Robinson College of Business, The Carter Center, the Georgia Tennis Foundation, the Atlanta History Center, and more.
